India has five special Rashtriya Military Schools. These are top-notch boarding schools managed by the Directorate General of Military Training. They are considered important and are classified as Category ‘A’ These schools, which provide excellent facilities, are like public schools and are affiliated with the CBSE board. The fees for these schools are very affordable because the Ministry of Defence helps cover the costs.
These schools were set up back in the 1930s. If someone wants to join these schools, they have to go through a national written exam, an interview and a medical test.
Admission
Before applying for admission to Rashtriya Military Schools, it’s crucial to understand that the school only admission students in classes 6 and 9. The admission process involves a Common Entrance Test (CET), which is a written examination conducted entirely through an Optical Mark Reader (OMR)-based system.
RMS are dedicated to providing quality education and preparing cadets for careers in the Defence Services. To maintain high standards, the school has set tough criteria for students to meet in order to secure final admission.
Eligibility
If you want to join Class 6 in Rashtriya Military School, you should be between 10 and 12 years old by March 31, 2021. For Class 9th, you need to be between 13 and 15 years old by the same date, and there is a little flexibility for those students, whose personnel Killed in Action.
You do not need any specific qualifications for Class 6th, but for Class 9th, you should have passed Class 8 from a government or recognized school before joining Rashtriya Military School.
RMS Entrance Examination
The RMS Entrance Exam follows a three-step process for selection. The initial stage involves a written exam, followed by an interview, and the final decision is made based on a medical test.
For Class 6th written exam, candidates will be tested in subjects such as English, Intelligence, Mathematics, General Knowledge and Current Affairs.
On the other hand, the Class 9th written exam will assess proficiency in English, Hindi, Mathematics, Social Studies and Science.
